Our editors receive BELS certification

We are pleased to announce that several editors of Scientific Editing are now "ELS", An acronym for "Editor in the Life Sciences". The Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) issues ELS by taking an exam three times a year in various locations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

The Board of Editors in the Life Sciences awards diplomate status to BELS-certified editors who pass the diplomate examination. Achievement of diplomate status indicates that an editor has demonstrated exceptional editorial proficiency, reflecting greater mastery of editorial skills and knowledge than required for certification as an Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS). To be eligible for diplomate status, the candidate must have been a BELS-certified editor for at least 2 years and be able to document at least 6 years of editorial experience.

As part of our learning and development initiative, this year Scientific Editing selected some of the editors to appear for the BELS certification exam. At Scientific Editing we aim at training our editors for the finer aspects of academic editing. By BELS certification, we give our editors an opportunity to facilitate the dissemination of standardized knowledge.
